Franz-
The early brake system with the left-hand emergency brake handle was phased out starting in March of 1928 due to legislation in some states which required a seperate emergency brake system.By June or July of 1928 the new system was used on all cars, with the brake handle mounted in front of the gearshift lever. This system still used the "equalizer" set-up which had the three-piece cross shaft. No one reproduces any parts for this, but good used parts can be found at swapmeets or advertised in Hemmings or Model A magazines.Usually worn parts can be built up with braze or welding and machined back to shape.Properly restored, this early brake system works fine and requires less adjustments to get even braking on each wheel.

: I have a early 28 pickup with the left hand emergency brake.
: Does anyone know of a source for brake parts. The brakes
: all work but the ball and socket connection between the
: cross-shafts is worn and should be replaced. Does anyone
: have accurate information as to how many of these were
: built?
