the first A i had had a bad ground connnection at the battery.when you i tried to start it the first time the coil spring on the front motor mount smoked (grease on the spring).the only way i would know that a coil would be hot would be too much current / voltage passing through the windings.something in the circut is shorted.or the coil is a six volt and should be 12v
luck

: I have a 1930 Tudor.Yesterday while going to a meet I brokedown. When I went to check I found that the coil was so hot you could touch it.The car is a older restration with a 12 volt system.I checked all the wires and even changed the coil to see if the first coil was bad.But the second coil got just as hot as the first one.I got the coil with the restor in the coil, also hooked it up correctly. It has been suggested to me to put a grounding strip and conect it to the engine and to the body of the car.Has anyone had this kind of problem?
