: : MY '30 ROADSTER HAS A TEN LEAF REAR SPRING . A SEVEN LEAF SPRING SHOULD BE ON THIS CAR.WILL THE RIDE BE THAT MUCH DIFFERENT WITH THE HEAVIER SPRING?

: -----------

: Mike,

: The Roadster has no weight in the rear. With the ten leaf spring I'd expect some unwanted lane changes at about 45mph! It's definitely better with the proper spring (or another 500lbs in the rear!).

: Don't attempt to modify the ten leaf spring. Modifying an original eight leaf from Coupe, Phaeton, Victoria, etc., you can come close (only the #3 leaf will be thicker/stiffer). An original spring would be best but they're difficult to find and most people can't identify them.

I have that very same problem...and I checked with several places...best price I have found is Sacramento Vintage at $160 for a 7 leaf roadster spring..Joel
