I have been rebuilding engines for some time and the amount of torque you are experiencing is not uncommon. Measuring torque is not a reliable indication that the engine is properly assembled. Your clearance checks suggest that your engine is built right. Turn the engine over with the starter and the ignition off to circulate some oil. Then start the engine, let it get hot, turn it off andretorque the cylinder head nuts to 50 ft-lb. Check the compression - it should be well into the 70s psig or higher. |
