We have a '30 Town Sedan with an with an original solid clutch like that and have never had any problems with chatter. It does "grab" quciker as you let the clutch out...just not quite as smooth of a transition as with the spring center. That is how they used to be so it can't be all bad. It will have a noticeably different feel than one with the springs.
