Joe,

All center clamps had the inner clamp flanges facing verticle. The round style clamps had the flat side facing the bumper bars, and the oval type had the flanges facing the bumper bars. I'm a little skeptical on two of the four styles, but this is the most recent data.

: I am in the process of putting a front bumper on my '29 CC Pickup for the first time since I have owned it.I have purchased the appropriate reproduction clamps and backing plates for my vehicle (March '29).

: The center medallion ("Ford" on a 2" round medallion) has the "wide" version backing plate which measures about 1-1/2" x 2" with a turned flange on the two long sides about 1/4" deep. It's a shallow U shape.

: I am unsure which side of the backing plate to put towards the bumper bars.Should it be the flat side or the flanged side? Also, what is the appropriate orientation of the flanges: vertical or horizontal.Vertical would be stronger I suppose.

: Any clues or comments?

: thanks,
: Joe
