: I have decided to install an electrical disconnect switch on my A.Most of the A's I have seen and the parts catalogs show the switch mounted on the firewall.I would like to keep the switch inconspicuous.Mike's A Ford-Able Parts suggests mounting the switch in front of the seat riser on the steel (body ?) cross member. It looks like I will need to drill away some wood under the member to make the switch fit. What do the pro's recommend ?? : Thanks, :Tim Wildey Tim, I fall in the camp with Joel and Marco. This switch can be a source of electrical problems in that it adds two more connections to the circuit which could come loose. The old KISS principle applies. The fuse that Joel suggests is a good idea.It can serve to prevent theft.I think it better serves as protection to the electrical system against shorts. However, I have had problems with the fuse block he describes. After years of vibration and oil fumes they can be a trouble spot. But that can be overcome very easily by soldering all the crimped and riveted connections prior to installation. To go a step further, on a wiring harness, it is a good idea to solder all of the crimped connectors on to the wire.I use the fuse, as described, on my cars and have eliminated a lot of electrical problems by soldering.ALL of the original type connectors are still in use on the headlights and I have no problem with them.
