: Due to not having a rebuildable generator I purchased a 6 volt
: one wire hookup aternator for my 29 closed cab pickup and now
: I have a slight current drain through the alt. This goes away
: when I remove the one wire hookup.I am not on the road yet so cannot tell if the charging rate is correct.Do I have a defective alt.Or am I just charging up somthing inside.I don't think this would be normal operation. And for the purist this is the only alteration except for a little more comfortable seat cushion. Thanks for any and all help.

Vandervort Repair & Rebuild

You may be surprised to find that all one wire hookup alternators do in fact draw some current. Depending on the quality ( and availabilities for the particular alternator) various stand by currents are boasted by the makers of these one wire regulators. I your battery goes dead, the drain may be a problem, or other problems may exist.

Now for the pure restoration,,,, we can help! What is the vehicle, it's options, and do you want to get the correct generator onit, do you want it to appear original and yet provide 12 volt neg ground?, ,, , , how can we help?++++
