Is it a 32 B or V8?.

The 32 driveshaft is a tubular construction, larger diameter in the middle than the solid "A" shaft. The banjo, bearings, gears, spiders, axle shafts etc are interchangeable between "A"s and 4cyl "B"s, but not the V8.

To separate the shaft from the pinion gear without damaging anything, you need a 20 ton hydraulic press with an open frame bottom.1)support the banjo, double bearing and pinnion with with a bearing separator around the shaft, with the shaft pointing down and (probably) passing through the bottom of the press frame. You may haver to elevate the press up on cinder blocks to accomodate the driveshaft length.2) Fabricate a "U" shaped mandrel to go around the banjo casting and provide a load path between the ram and the threaded end of the drive shaft. It should pop off easily in the press.3) After the shaft is out, readjust the bearing separator and push out the pinion, bearings, and double race.Depending on the size of your junk pile, you can find something to adapt so you don't have to fabricate anything.I can't now recall whatpiece I used as a pusher.

: My understanding was that the '32 banjo consruction was different than the "A", using a pilot bearing inside the banjo. However possibly yours is a hangover from the "A".In any case, one way I've seen the situation resolved is the use of a short hydraulic jack inside the banjo pushing against the end of the drive shaft which has the nut reversed, and run flush to the end of the shaft to protect the threads. The bearing race will probably move out before the shaft pops loose, but the pinion won't go through the opening. I would think twice about re-using the bearings, though unless they're REALLY good - there's a lot more work than money there since it's apart.
