Brian,
It is fairly easy to replace a rear end. A word of caution is that you'll need a quality spring spreader to remove the spring from the axle housings. Do not attempt to remove the spring shackles without taking the tension off of the spring with the spreader. The spreader ends fit into the areas just above the shackle eyes on the ends of the bottom leaf.
