: Hi Folks,

: I had an interesting conversation with my dad last evening about double clutching. He learned to drive in London in an old Ford truck (Lorry) during the Second World War.He described a method of down shifting from third to second gear without double clutching.I was perplexed and asked him to describe the method. His response was

: While in third gear depress the clutch pedal and shift towards second gear and simultaniously blip the gas while the clutch is disengaging. The blipping at that time starts the gears turning for meshing into second gear.It sounds feasable to me but I feel it would cause excessive clutch ware.Any of you folks out there hear of or practice this approach? He claims it works great as your coming into a turn.

: Regards,

Use it all the time, but only in shifting to a lower gear.
Was never able to make any kind of double clutching down work
satisfactorily
