An excellent solution to spring lubrication and a noticeablysmoother riding Model A is the installation of spring covers. Reproductions of the original Ford accessory covers are available from parts dealers, and they are well made. The black vinyl covers, 2 per spring, contain felt pads inside. You soak these pads with oil (600 works fine) and the oil works its way between the spring leaves. A set of covers for booth springs costs about $25 and takes about 15 minutes per spring to install. The covers are held in place by metal tabs and have a neat appearance. |
