I believe that these are for early V-8 cars.I've got a couple of those with the crimped on covers in my cache of shocks, but have never figured out how to get them apart...

==============================================================:
: : I was recently given six Houdaille shock absorbers that are supected of being Model A vintage.On quick examination some appear to be slightly different, ie, no lock ring, different overall resevoir height.. Can anyone enlighten me as to how to get a positive ID on these???Thanks

: If you have the Judging Stds., look at the pics. Betting you don't since you asked the question, if the cover is crimped on , it's not "A". Its really hard to verbally or by written discrip. identify. Most "A" shocks were of substantially the same height and deminsions.
