: Ever have that oil vapor sling out your oil breather cap and get all over your pretty hoses, water inlet, starter and the left side of your engine? especially after a nice drive and you want to show off your purring engine and it looks like another oil leak has struck your floor!I figured a way to filter the cap and still allow it to exhale normally.I bought a small pack of 3M final stripping pads (two to the pak-about a buck), size 6"x 3-7/8" #2.This pad is green in color and used for stripping wood finishes in place of steel wool. It will not splinter or shred like steel wool and being a fine durable mesh, will allow plenty of air through and stop that oil!.. I took one piece (comes 1/4" thick, rolled it up like a mini newspaper, stuck one end tightly into the breather cap plug, and cut the other end so it just rests on the top-most baffle in the filler tube. The mesh simply catches the oily vapors, and drips them back down into the engine which breathes normally. Its a great filter and will last practiclly forever.I charge 10 cents for you to use this idea.If I can get 10 of you to pay me, I get my filter for free!

This is a good idea.I built a 427 for a cobra project 2 years ago, and I used the same thing for the oil screen below the pcv valve. It worked great there, so next time i see you, you get the 10 cents, and a beer.
