: i bought a water pump housing a a flea market, it does not have the replacement part no. stamped, a-8501 in the side, however it does have ho stamped upside down on the right side of the nose, is this an original orreplacement housing. if it is original, what years might it have been used.thanks in advance.dan rossi
Most if not all original castings had an indented letter, or one or two digit number measuring 1/4" - 5/16" tall.This was used to identify the source of bad castings.On the waterpump the character was typically on the side near the front where it would be obscured by the fan pulley.The particular character would not identify any specific time period.
