Yes, yes, yesss! Proper conditinof guide tracks and centering of drums is critical to good brakes! So glad to hear someone else preaching this.
The shoe centering measuring tools are simple to build, I wonder why someone isn't making them? For the fronts, an old inner race with a shaped bracket welded on it, with a bolt to adjust for a 'feeler' on the shoe face, rears's a little trickier, but piece of tubing, with a slit in it and a strap to tighten it and similar bracket welded on (rear axle housing bearning surfaces are often worn, so with the clamp, you can obtain a nice snug sliding fit.It sure made my brake work a lot easier!
