G'Day Pat,
This is an easy one for me as it's part of our daily grind. Firstly let me tell you that there's no risk with asbestos type linings unless you grind them & allow the dust to become airborne. We use a gas burner to burn the linings off, but in effect all that happens is the lining is made hot enough to cause the bonding agent attaching it to the shoe to de-generate & the lining just falls off in one piece. It can then be disposed of as required. If you don't have a gas burner, a propane torch or oxy-acetylene torch with a soft flame will do the trick. I strongly advise you don't try using your wifes gas stove as the resultant smoke & pungent odours will definitely not endear you to any of your family members.

: Any ideas on how to remove the bonded pads from brake shoes?A brake shop? The pads are almost brand new, but don't stop the car very well.

: Thanks,

: Pat
