: My 29 has grease nipples fitted to the steering box. I know that you shouldn't use grease for the steering, but there is no other lubrication point on the box. Does anyone have some suggestions.

At the suggestion of someone on this board, I filled my recently rebuilt 7 tooth box with STP.It steers very smoothly, and I am happy with the results.I have a grease fitting in the sector bushing area, and put grease there.I also installed the outer sector bushing a bit farther than flush, so as to make a recess place for an O ring to sit.I installed an O ring, made a thin washer to hold it in place against the frame with a piece of aluminum roof flashing, and when I bolted the box to the frame, the aluminum washer held the O ring from sliding away from the box.I have high hopes that this will keep the grease and STP from leaking out.The rubber seal for the end of the worm shaft, that was supplied with the gasket kit, was much thicker than the leather washer originally fitted, but it is keeping the lubricant where it belongs.
