Hot Amp Meter and Starting Problems

Posted by Ken Forse on September 09, 1998 at 13:20:15

After finally getting my Tudor started I noticed that the Amp Meter was hot to the touch. I checked the nuts on the back of tyhe meter and they seemed tight but am confused on what the problem could be. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I am also having a hard time getting the car started. It cranks only for a short time but if it kicks in the right spot she takes off. I can get her started faster by cranking the engine (one turn).

I have now put the battery on a battery charger overnight to see if that makes a difference. Also when I cranked her over with the starter the dash light would dim right down to nothing and then the starter would stop.

It almost seems like I have a loose connection somewhere or not a proper ground or a bad battery.

Are these two problems related?

Does anyone have suggestions that I can test for with a meter to isolate my problem areas?
