Hi all,
This is a very interesting subject and needs more research. Not to jump on on Dave's (the other Dave!) subject, hear's what I know of these numbers (as my car has them, in fact is registered by them!)
Not all cars have them, seem to be only on cars assembled at the 'satilite (sp?)" assembly plants, and not always then. Location does vary, but *Usually* on the cross sill the seat riser rivets to, and usually in front of the riser, BUT not always!! Can be found on any steel framed body. I *think* some have been found on wood framed bodies too, but this is my flakey memory telling me this.
So gentlemen (and gentlewomen) Start your flashlights and go search! Sent the info to Dave (not me, I've procasted for decades doing this project!). If enough info comes through, it might even be possible to note which assembly plants were using 'outdated' parts in comparison with the Rouge. I know my San Francisco car has some early parts that theoretically were outdated by the time it was built.
