Hi Brad,In regard to pricing, most full line parts suppliers charge the same price for a given part as the retail price of the manufacturer.Their gross margin is less but it would make no sense to charge more in this very competitive business. If you shop, you will nearly always find the same price from a full line supplier- in some cases even less because price increase are not passed thru immediately for competitive reasons.Sounds like you do a good job of shopping but don't sell the full line suppliers short. This would be a much more expensive hobby if we weren't around. The manufacturers would be much more reluctant to set up to make wood kits if they couldn't recoup the setup cost as fast as they can by selling to retailers who stock and distribute.

just two cents from another side.

: Hello Again,

: Two more cents from the youngster, Ken mentioned that he got a kit from Bratton's and it fit well, I am glad-Bratton's is a great place for Model A parts.HEre is what I learned when researching wood kits.I did much looking into the process because I was trying to decide whether or not it was worth buying or making myself-I am quite sure I could have made the kit myself. In other words, when I talked with people they had to prove to me that it was worth buying the kit versus making my own.
: I found that there are about 10 places that actually make their own kits, other places advertise them but they do not make them.Usually, not always, when you buy from the second guy you end up payingbetween 50 and 75 dollars more for the same kit if you bought it from someplace that makes them.
: I don't have the information right here so tomorrow I will post the three that I considered buying from.I ended up going with Classic Wood because of the fast shipment-the other two were very similar kits in my opinion, possibly even a step up.
: I will post more information tomorrow, however, I would advise to try and find the source whenever possible in purchasing any parts.Another examply would be sheet metal.A vast majority of the sheet metal made for old cars is made by Rootlieb(sp.), true you can buy a hood from many places but most are Rootlieb hoods so why not get a catalog right from the source?
: Just my two cents, maybe four.
