: Where are then assembly plant numbers? Can I tell where a car was made by the number?

Hi C.W.,
Part of the assembly plant number contains a one to three letter code that tells the assembly plant. Visit www.mafca.com/assembly.htm I think all but about six of the the 35 plants have been equated to their letter codes. Still working on the remainder and still collecting assembly plant numbers. The assembly plant numbers are normally stamped on the top of the front body cross member. Some are stamped on the top of either of the body side rails around the door opening areas. Even cars with wooden cross members and side rails had been stamped. There are different sized stamps used. We are still learning about the numbers and if your car has not been restored it is best to have it sand blasted. Some cars were stamped under and inside of the front seat riser.
Happy hunting,
Dave.
