your are right on the fire wall date 8/29/28.that date is stamped when the body is completed. i used to think that it was the date the body was set on the frame...but now there seems to be discussion that it would be stamped when the body was in white and not yet painted.
the number on the cross memeber is the assembly plant letter (in your case ford rouge plant) and the assembly number. (check out www.mafca.com for the excellent info that d. sturges has compiled on these numbers.)
btw..my 28 tudor is 11/1/28 and F42465. email me and we can compare notes.
