Hi Larrym,
The accepted cure in the thirties was to put the car in high gear and rock the car back and forth--you will hear the bendix when it snaps loose from the flywheel. Don't oil the bendix-- your problem is probably a bad ring gear on the flywheel. Sorry to have to tell you that. Best of luck. Ben Jenkinson
