Gary,

The previous replies gave enough info to ID your Coupe. However, a little more info may be helpful for '28 owners.

First, the oval quarter windows described for the Business Coupe were a 1929 feature only. There was nearly an equal number of Business Coupes produced with and without the quarter window (67,000+ by published information).Second, the early-mid 1928 Sport Coupe had no braces to help support the #2 roof bow. With the introduction of the Business Coupe in May 1928, new interior roof braces were used. These included braces from the #2 roof bow to the rear belt rail wood and braces from the top of the quarter lock pillars (behind the doors) to the #2 roof bow.

Approximately a month later the Sport Coupe roof trim was changed from whipcord fabric to brown artificial leather. With this change, the braces were added to the Sport Coupe bodies. In late 1928 (probably late Oct. - early Nov.) the 1929 Busines Coupes were introduced. They included the familiar oval quarter windows and a new braces between the quarter lock pillars to the #2 roof bow that arched over the top of the oval window. The straight braces were continued on Sport Coupe bodies for the remainder of Model A production.

Although this information is of interest to very few, it has some value and has never before been published in it's entirety!
