John, while I generally agree with your comments, I would like to point out that halogen's of the same CP do illuminate things a little better. The light is more "white" than the regular incandescent bulbs. The effect of this is to make things easier to see without increasing candle power. Is it worth the expense? I don't know. I do know that I can see a whole lot better with halogens in my '63 Fairlane, but I was replacing 35 year old incandescents (original Ford!).
