Dear George, My Model "A" has the original generator, distributor, etc.The only thing I installed is the modern upper plate in the distributor. This reduces the chance of condenser failure due to engine heat. I have never had any problems. From day one the Model "A" has had the reputation of a simple, reliable car. Some people say it was the best car ever made. After this seventy year track record, I am not going to second guess Ford's engineers. In my view, it is not necessary to send the money for the alternator or the electronic ignition. In fact, I think high-tech modifications detract from the extraordinary character of the car. HS |
