: George,

I have both the 6V alternator and the electronic ignition on my 30 tudor and they work GREAT.I had started my newly overhauled car with an 8V battery combination but had charging problems.I was advised by the NuRex engineer to go back to the 6V battery and it seems to have cured my problem. When using the alternator you will notice your amp meter reading different than you are used to, as it charges only what is needed.Don't dispair, just watch it for awhile. The NuRex ignition is great so far.My car starts right off and does not suffer from the starter pulling power away from running the engine like standard points do.I also use a Tillitson carb which I think has improvement over most Zeniths. You can count the "catch--chicken" beat of the moter during idle and you are still charging. There is another solid state ignition which is all inclusive in the distributor.I am told it works on a "Hall effect" and is subject to heat involvement.I'm no expert and don't even know what the hall effect is so I just passed on something I heard.
