Items in the engine compartment that were black were gloss finish with the exception of the carb and Cast sediment bowl which were nearly flat.Engine splash pans and wiring clips were dipped and the finish was similar to the fenders.Other items were sprayed and had just slightly less gloss.
The Judging Standards and Restoration Guidlines has the best breakdown of finishes although it doesn't cover the more subtle variations.With the types of details you seem to be paying attention to, the book would be a worthwhile investment.
