Clean the pan

Dennis,
Most of the gunk goes to the bottom of the pan. So if you are switching from non-dtergent oil it would be wise to remove the pan and clean it before you switch. You might also consider removing the valve cover and cleaning that area. I would also suggest changing the oil sooner the first couple of times.
