: : : Has anyone purchased and installed the PerTronix Ignitor solid state ignition system for the Model A that was featured in the current issue of the "Model A Trader"?

: : : If so, how was the installation and does the system perform as advertised?Thanks..

: : Hi Larry, over the past 3 years or so, I've experimented with electronic ignition systems on my Roadster. I first installed the New-Rex system, and was impressed with the preformance of the unit, however I experienced a start problem that could not be resolved by New-Rex to my satisfaction. Last year, after returning from the MARC meet in Dayton, I purchased the Per Tronix system. I was also impressed with the preformance of it, and had none of the start problems as in the other unit.I think that the installation of the Per Tronix is less complicated. I really like it, the preformance as compared to the breaker point system is like night and day, and you don't have to adjust points ever again. This combined with setting the timing with a timing light makes for a great running Model A.

: Where can I get this system, and what is the price?Does it look different from the outside, fromthe original?
Bill, check out the Spring/Summer 1997 issue of the Model A Trader for complete details. It is available from Remund Ignitions, P O Box 857, Lemon Grove, Ca 91946-0857, phone# 619-460-3620
