Dave's right - the Tillotson model "X" was never a standard carbureter on either the "A" or "B" engines. It was also not painted (or buffed for that matter). The "A"s used several models of Zenith, and the "B"s also used two different models of Zenith (with larger venturis than the "A" carbs). These were painted Black also (and generally sell much cheaper at swap meets).
I ran an "X" on my "A" back in the '60s because it seemed to perform better than the Zenith, but it never did better for me than 17 M.P.G.
