Dan, you will not find that a high speed ring and pinion is
a substitute for an overdrive. You'll get anywhere from 3
to 7 miles per hour higher "top end" which you will also
lose when climbing hills (you'll become very familiar with
second gear). While better than nothing, if
you have visions of going from a top end of 52 to 55 up into
the 60 mphs, you're going to need an overdrive, and if you
are only managing 45 now, well, need I say more?
