Since the late 50's when Model As were first restored the "correct" restoration has changed. Some of the early restorations whould include frames, engine blocks, generators, starters, manifolds etc that were polished and painted gloss black or other "non-original" colors. As the standards state "The Standards are not finished and will never be finished as long as restorers and historians strive to learn all they can about the Model A Ford, its development, manufacture, and distribution." Fortunately or unfortunately the Model A is one of the best documented "old" cars and to win at a national event not only do you have to get every nut and bolt in the right place they have to be the right type of nut and bolt with the correct finish.
