Installing Doors on my Model A Ford

Posted by Ken Smith on January 01, 1997 at 16:19:48

I am in the process of restoring a 1930 Model A Ford Closed Cab Pickup. The former owner had a pair of doors just about ready to hang. I have the original doors also. The new doors have not been sprayed yet. I thought that I would see if they fit okay before I went any further with the restoration. I can see that I will need someone to supervise my process of putting the glass in and installing the risers, handle, and all the door bumpers and things that are required to complete the door installation. I have everything to do the job) Does anyone out there know of any resources that are available to assist me since this is the first time. Books? I have never done something like this?

I was told by the former owner that when the doors were put on the Closed Cab, they look a little odd because they overlap the cab at the edge of the door. That is exactly what I am seeing as I temporarily have both doors mounted on the hinges. I also notice that the drivers side door is sprung out just a bit (approximately 1.5 inches) Does anyone know if I can just carefully twist the door into a proper alignment with the cab?

I would appreciate help from any of you who have dealt with putting doors on you Model As.
