: Does anyone know the correct type of wood to use on the roof of a 1929 Tudor? I know they sell kits, but would like to work the wood myself and use the correct wood stock. Any help would be appreciated

the typical kits offer oak,ash and maple " as original". I kept all of the pieces when i took my '28 apart. with the same thought in mind. "i can do this".....
The total wood kit(roof, sides, headers etc.) for a 1928-29 tudor will cost about $400. I figure materials at close to $200,(A swag as they dont give the stuff away) and then at least 80 - 120 hours of my time to make the parts, and I've done a little wood work. If you want to get the car going buy a kit - you' ll be way ahead in time.
Now the answer to your question.. I believe the roof ribs in mine were ash.. they should be cut straight then bent to give and keep the proper roof bow.. Good luck, If you're determined you have much more patientce and perseverce than I want to invest. The flooring matierial was birch or maple as far as Ive been able to determine.. Now I'll do a floor as opposed to getting a plywood kit replacement (time and value.. a good
trade off.)
