Someone's been messing with it. There IS such a thing as a
"factory" TWELVE leaf spring, but you don't get it by doubling
up the top leaf - the second-from-the-top leaf is doubled and
the "stairsteps" are altered to include an extra leaf in the
stack, down lower. Remember that the very top leaf has
chamfered sides to fit into the contour of the cross member.
