You didn't say whether or not you have your shocks on. They are NOT optional equipment. The "sprung rise" of your (8 leaf) spring should be 8 1/2 to 9" from top of diff housing banjo to the under side of the main leaf. The shackles, obviously, should be tight and firm, straining against the spring's sprung position. The unsprung rise of this spring is about 18". New springs are adequate but not very correct cosmetically. The ones I've seen aren't very correct in any other way, either They'll definitely do a better job than a broken or cracked original, but if your spring is just "tired" - have it re-arched. Yes, you'll need a spring spreader or face a possible near- death experience. Even when worn out, these rears are vicious. |
