Tim,

This may be a dumb question, but what is the purpose/advantage of a disconnect switch? I thought they were primarily an anti-theft device and most thieves wouldn't know how to start or drive an A. If the the purpose is to feel safer parking the car over the winter, the ground strap is a quick off and on. I've never diconnected my batteries except for servicing the battery or electrical system.

If adding one, I would suggest either through the floorboard near the battery(may make it a pain to remove the floor board for servicing). Or make a sturdy mounting bracket that mounts on any existing hole such as the front body bolt. However, keep in mind that the switch would be better through the battery ground connection(it seems to me). So proximity to the rear of the battery should be considered.

: I have decided to install an electrical disconnect switch on my A.Most of the A's I have seen and the parts catalogs show the switch mounted on the firewall.I would like to keep the switch inconspicuous.Mike's A Ford-Able Parts suggests mounting the switch in front of the seat riser on the steel (body ?) cross member. It looks like I will need to drill away some wood under the member to make the switch fit. What do the pro's recommend ??

: Thanks,
