I'd be suspicious of the plugs.I have actually experienced one instance where ALL 6 brand new plugs (Champions)on a Grey Marine flathead engine rebuild fouled within 2 minutes of starting and COULD NOT be cleaned to run again.
Since you probably have your old plugs around (real model "A" folk never throw anything away) I'd re-install them and see if that makes a difference.
