I thought my engine had a lot of valve clatter, too. Adjusted the valves many times trying to get rid of it. Then I read something on p. 422 of the service bulletins about a loose timing gear causing a knock. To check, you stick the timing pin in while the engine runs slowly. (WATCH THE FAN!) If the knock stops, the gear is loose. Mine was. Bad timing could cause a lot of the symptoms you have. If you can get 'er running again you might try it. |
