The symptoms suggest fuel starvation. Possible causes may be an improperly vented gas tank cap, blockage due to debris / rust in the tank anda clogged jet in the carburetor. The next time the problem occurs, disconnect the fuel line at the carburetor. Flow from the line should be a steady stream. A significant loss of manifold vacuum due to an air leak will lean out the fuel mixture and cause difficulty starting. |
