Hi Duane

This is not about the mentioned 3 door - Tudor sedan, but about some similar cars I know about here in Denmark.

The Tudor is the most common model A here in Denmark (as elsewhere) especially the 30/31 models. Some of these where made with a reardoor, so they could be used as some kind of van, a combination van on Monday - Saturday and sedan on Sunday - You simply put the rear seat in again.

I have never seen those cars in commercial use, most of them are now in use as ordinary sedans, some of them with the door blocked or welded into normal Tudor rear end, but this is not an easy job so many still have the door but no more in use.

I’m told that you could order a Tudor sedan with reardoor at the Ford dealers here in Denmark, when order was placed the conversion was made at the Copenhagen assembly plant. This information has never been confirmed but, over the years I have seen an couple of these cars and the construction is identical on all of these cars.

The door was cut out of the rear end, a wooden base was put around the "hole", and the cut out transferred to a wooden frame to make the door, 3 model A like door hinges was used, and an extra doorhandle with lock was added. Spare wheel is mostly mounted in right fender.

My latest example is al little different, the car was ordered to a bakery, and now restored by a baker, but it has no rear window, it is cut out, and welded over with at plate - construction otherwise identical to other examples.

I have seen a similar conversion on a ’32 model B Tudor sedan.

Original all steel (Ford) vans was not common in Denmark, I know only one example. Most of our vans, Pickups and AA-trucks where made on chassis by Danish coachbuliders.

Kind regards
