Hi Doug.

The best method for welding the stainless shells is the Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) method. It uses a non-consumable tungsten rod and the 300 series non-magnetic stainless rods for the filler material.Good TIG welders with experience repairing the Model A shells will know what specific 300 series number rod to use to match the "color" of Henry's material.Believe it was called "Allegheny Rustless Steel", and had a distinct coloration all it's own.

After the shell is TIG welded by an expert, there is virtually no discoloration at all, and very little hand work is required.
