Is a Ford 289 still a 289 if you modify it with a hotter cam ?
Would a Chevy 327 still be considered original with an improved oil pump, stainless steel valves,or chrome molly rings?

With an A engine, I would call the the modifications you mentioned "B" improvements, but I would still call it a Model A engine. I would not call it original, but that would not be as important to me unless I was building a "Show" car. Drivers I don't mind "unseen" modifications, Henry after all never drove a 70 year old automobile. Come to think of it Henry would have us all still driving Model T's if it weren't for his son Edsel. Hmmm, maybe that wouldn't be so bad after all.
