I DROVE MY 30 TOWNSEDAN ABOUT 1,500 MILES AFTER REBUILDING THE ENGINE BACK TO STOCK. WHEN I WENT DOWN THE ROAD I HAD SOME VIBRATION THAT WENT THROUGH THE ENTIRE CAR AND COULD BE SEEN WHEN YOU LOOKED OUT AT THE HEADLIGHTS. IT CAUSED THEM TO SHAKE SLIGHTLY. THEN I ADDED COUNTERWEIGHTS AND LIGHTEN THE FLYWHEEL 9 POUNDS. IT SMOOTHED DOWN ALOT OF THE VIBRATIONS AND MY HEADLIGHTS ARE STEADY. WHEN IDLING I CAN'T TELL ANY DIFFERENCE FROM STOCK.
BUT IT IS STILL A MODEL A FORD AND THERE WILL ALWAYS BE A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF VIBRATION THAT WILL ALWAYS REMAIN!
I'M NOW BUILDING THE ENGINE FOR MY DELUXE PHAETON AND I HAD NO DOUBT I MY MIND ABOUT COUNTERBALANCING, ONLY THIS TIME I CUT 20 POUNDS OFF OF THE FLYWHEEL AND IT STILL WEIGHS 43 POUNDS......I THINK THAT PLENTY!
