All original style points available for the A are "aftermarket" and
do have a tendancy to wear down. Minimize this by lubing and,
much more important - use a GOOD CAM !!! There are a whole
lot of real disgusting repro cams out there, and even more
disguting originals. You want one with absolutely no sharp
edges or pits and a very high grade smooth surface. ALVES makes the
BEST good aftermarket cam. They are nice people but somewhat
independant. If they won't sell you just one, call me, I
have a bunch of them. Their number is 203-274-6756. Mines'
1-800-327-1469 Second best is Nu-Rex's cams. 330-784-5334.
For the daily driver, the "modern upper plates" that use late
model points work great. I can get a year or more's service
out of one set of points and I NEVER adjust them. Here, again,
I started out with an ALVES cam.
