: : I'm using the voltage regulator sold by James Peterson from Oregon. : : Has anyone had any problems with this? Burned out generator, etc. : : I have a rebuilt generator and all original (candle power) lights, etc. ::Neal I have never used the Peterson regulator...but I can't see that it would cause any problems that the generator diden't already have...I have made voltage limiters and put rectifiers in the old cut-out housings and they worked fine...the problem was always within the generator itself...finally last summer I bought a 6 volt....positive alternator kit from that guy in Paradise California...he advertises in Hemmings...about $100 delivered...tax n all...it has all the brackets...the proper pulleys even the bolts...and a single wire hookup[...took about 15 minutes to hook up and WOW...nice bright lights...full battery etc...its quiet and trouble free...made from a small GM alternator...really a good addition to my road car...I kept the old generator...in case I ever wanted to restore the car...but for a driver I wonder what ever took me so long to change..for $100 bucks it is super..no more electrical worries...and it's 6 volt positive ground.. |
