Hmm.There is some diversity of opinion.

In my case I think I have decided to not chemically strip the doors. Two reasons

1. No one has offered up any names of qualified Dip/Strip firms in the New England area.Search of the internet and Yellow Pages yielded precious few candidates.
2. The possibility of chemicals becoming lodged in the recesses and folds of the component being stripped and later ruining the completed finish has merit. Most especially for doors with their many folds and turns.

I might have gone the other way on this if I could become familiar with and develop some confidence in a vendor and his level of attention to detail. But to deal with a stripper by long distance seems perilous at best.Quality control is hard to monitor over the telephone and only quality control (or a healthy dose of "do it yourself")will beat problem #2 above.
Thank you all for sharing your experience and opinions.
Joe
