: My Zenith 1 carb on my 1930 Coupe has never been
satisfactory. This is a rebuilt engine, not yet broken in.
I'm pretty sure the timing is correct. It runs rich. And
occasionally the float valve gets stuck, causing the thing
to flood and pour out gasoline through the air intake port.
I've purchased rebuild kits and replaced some of the jets,
and changed the float valve many times. I've played with
shims under the float valve, to lower the float level. The
thing still is not working right. I'm getting tired of
this. I want to drive this spring!

: Can anyone suggest an outfit or individual who is known
to be proficient at rebuilding Zenith carbs? I'm ready to
pay for someone's help.

A neoprene valve and new grose jets did the trick for me. I had similar problems after an engine rebuild. I also had a "new" zenith too!!!! I refitted the new carb wth this new tech stuff and I haven't had a problem since.....Only thing I noticed is my gas mileage is poor regardless of mixture and timing
